An almost unknown distillery until Billy Walker purchased it in the late 2010s, GlenAllachie had been producing malt whisky exclusively for use in blends.
Now, most GlenAllachie released by the distillery is aged in sherry casks, but this 12-year-old expression from Single Cask Nation was initially aged in a refill bourbon cask before being transferred to a refill Oloroso Sherry cask for its final 2.5 years.
Distilled in October 2012, bottled in Winter 2025.
Total Outturn: 240 Bottles
Nose: Delicately spiced with cedar cigar boxes and rich, ripe dates. Toasted pecans and cherry cordials peek in around the edges of the glass.
Palate: Warming and rich with toasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate, and dark roast coffee beans, but there’s a fruitiness that lightens the overall experience (think warm apple pie à la mode)
Finish: While the fruitiness from the palate lingers longest, there’s also a pleasing touch of velvety mocha.
