My wine partnership with Doug Stanton has spanned twenty years. His Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon was discovered back then at the annual Taste of Oakville by some friends and former colleagues of mine. The Taste of Oakville is held every spring for trade and media only and is considered the best Cabernet tasting in all the USA. It is at this tasting the wines of Harlan, Screaming Eagle, Bond, Rudd, Dalla Valle, Opus One, you name it! If it is from Oakville, it gets poured. A fantastic opportunity to meet one on one with the proprietors and winemakers of these outstanding wines. On a recent trip to Napa Valley, we spent days meeting up with our winery partners seeking the best wines and deals to be made. We met and tasted multiple vintages of Doug’s Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and struck a deal to help him clear through some inventory. The exceptional fruit they cultivate is sought by some of the most prominent wineries in the region including Stags Leap, Merryvale, Del Dotto, Orin Swift, and Groth.
